9th International Conference on Greek Linguistics

The main venue for accommodations for the duration of the conference will be the International House on the University of Chicago campus (http://ihouse.uchicago.edu/); the International House does NOT offer a special conference rate, but even without such a rate, the rooms are the most affordable in the area. Please contact the International House directly yourself regarding a reservation. Please do so soon, as rooms are filling up and due to other events in the area, the International House may not be able to accommodate you if you come early to Chicago or want to stay beyond the end of the conference.

Thus we provide here some information about other housing options in the general campus area, but please realize that inexpensive options are rather limited.

We have reserved a block of rooms at a special conference rate at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, located at 2233 S. Martin Luther King Drive, about 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the University (we expect to have a shuttle bus running between the Hyatt and the conference site). The conference rate is $159 for Single or Double Occupancy, and $184 for Triple Occupancy (so that a shared room is not that much more than the International House). Please contact the Hyatt yourself directly to make reservations; you can either call them or make the reservation on the internet. If you call them, the relevant phone number is +1-312-567-1234; note that you will need to tell them that you are booking a room set aside for the "University of Chicago Conference" that runs from October 28 to November 1. If you are calling from overseas, note that their reservation lines are open 24 hours a day so you should be able to call at any time that is convenient for you. To make the reservation by the internet, please go to the following URL: https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_gi_new&groupID=1507700. Pending availability, you should be able to book a room at the conference rates for arrival earlier than the 28th and departure later than the 1st, if so desired.

There are many other hotels in Chicago of course, not all of which are particularly convenient to the university but which might place you right in the heart of an exciting part of the city; for information on those hotels that have preferred rates for visitors coming to town on University of Chicago business, please visit http://adminet.uchicago.edu/adminres/arcontents/proc_serv/hotels/hotelprogram72309.pdf.

For information about Hyde Park (i.e. University-area) accommodations other than the International House and the Hyatt, (a list with short comments about each can be found at https://coral.uchicago.edu:8443/x/nYJe/ .

Finally, we expect to be able to provide some crash space for student participants; if you are interested, please send a message to icgl2009@ling.ohio-state.edu.
